Geiger

Joshua Geiger is from Atlanta, GA and is now a commercial product and still life photographer.  Joshua is relatively new to the photography industry, begining his business last year.  Previously he was a graphic desighner for more then ten years, working for large companies such as Yahoo!

His work is always well lit, bold and to the point.  He will often photograph his products and enter in a backround or texture that in some relationship with the main product.  Take the photograph below, the neclance stands out with a subtle textured material behind that could repusent a shirt that could be worn underneath the neclace.

Another thig that I love about Joshua's work is that when he uploads images to Facebook he will often note his setup and lighting information.

Geiger

Joshua Geiger is from Atlanta, GA and is now a commercial product and still life photographer.  Joshua is relatively new to the industry.  He has only been working with a camera since last year, previously he  was a graphic designer for more then ten years working for large companies such as Yahoo!

His work is always well lit, bold and to the point, he will often create an image of a product and enter in a second object as a background to relate the image to a scene of which the product may be used.   Just like the below image of a necklace on fabric, this fabric can give the illusion of what colour shirt may be worn below.

I also love that when he uploads his photos to Facebook he also adds the information of what he used and at what settings.

Location Task 3 - On camera flash

Location Task 2 - Portable Flash research

Location Task 1 - Natural Light Portraits

Task
For this task I was required to create 2 portraits using natural light.  Each portrait was to be of a different subject and at a different location.  I was to consider all that I had learnt from portraitd in the studio last year and apply that to a location portrait.
I was to consider;
- The lighting direction
- Quality of light
- Lighting ratios
- Exposure
- Fill and separation
- Focal length
- Posing and expression
- Background

Image One
I photographed Rennae at the beginning of a bright hot sunset.  The sun was still quite high resulting in very harsh bright light.  I had to keep an eye on shadows, I directed her nose directly into the sun.  This kept shadows away from her nose area and were only noticeable on her cheeks and from her entire body to the background.
Rennae
Exposure: 1/400 sec at f/ 5.0
Focal length: 150mm
ISO: 100
Camera: 5D Mark lll
Lens: EF70-200mm f/ 2.8L IS ll USM
Image Two
I photographed Caitlynn at the end of a sunset.  The sun had lowered and I used that to light the back of her.  I used a reflector in front of her face to bring some light back.  Shooting this style is very beautiful and in style at the moment, it can be quite hard to get a crisp image as we'll as avoid flair.
